Launch Honorific

A couple of years ago I took a short course on print on demand services and one of the products was a series of flipbooks.  A friend and I put together a nice big, thick book of flippers.  It was arranged so that each flipbook was about 1.5″ tall, so because the book was 11″ tall we had to slice it.  When we did some of the cuts were imperfect so we ended up with little slices of books.  One of the ones I made was of a shuttle launch from the perspective of the rear-facing camera on the booster tank.  A nice little book…

But as I mentioned we had these thin slices of books, one of which was the edge of this shuttle launch.  Long story short I noticed that when this slice was fanned out and laid flat, an image of the coastline appeared almost in proper perspective, as if you were looking across the length of the beaches.  Kind of a neat thing.  Anyway, below is a comparison shot between the flipbook SLICE and one of the images from the book.  You can clearly see the shadow from the booster plume.
